Description

ProLabel Kits provide sensitive chemiluminescence assays for measuring the expression levels of any gene of interest. These kits allow you to express your target gene as a fusion to the ProLabel tag, which enables fast and simple testing for expression. You can assay any gene-ProLabel fusion. However, these kits were especially designed to provide a functional assay for protein knockdown RNA interference (RNAi) studies.

The ProLabel assay technology is based on beta-galactosidase enzyme fragment complementation. The ProLabel tag encodes the alpha fragment of the enzyme, which is expressed as a C-terminal tag fused to your gene of interest. In the presence of the omega fragment (the Enzyme Acceptor, EA), the two domains form a complete, active enzyme that cleaves the chemiluminescent substrate. The resulting signal can be detected and quantified with any standard luminometer. Changes in expression level are easily detectable, and the assay provides a low threshold of detection as well as an excellent dynamic range.
