Description

Baculovirus expression system designed for production of recombinant proteins at extremely high levels in insect cells. System includes transfer vectors, BacPAK6 Viral DNA, Sf21 cells, and transfection reagents.

In BacPAK Expression Systems the target gene is inserted into a transfer vector, which is cotransfected into insect host cells with linearized viral DNA. The DNA is missing an essential portion of the baculovirus genome rendering it incapable of producing functional virus. When the Viral DNA recombines with the vector, the essential element is restored and the target gene is transferred to the baculovirus genome. Following recombination, a few baculoviral plaques are picked and purified and the recombinant phenotype is verified. Then the newly isolated recombinant baculovirus is amplified, titered, and used to infect insect cell cultures and produce large amounts of the desired protein.
