Yeast Culture Media and Dropout Supplements

Description

These high-quality yeast growth media and dropout supplements can be used for growing yeast cultures, confirming auxotrophic phenotypes, and selecting yeast transformants. They are ideal for use with Matchmaker™ Systems and other yeast one- or two-hybrid systems.

YPD Medium is a blend of peptone, yeast extract, and dextrose in optimal proportions for growing most S. cerevisiae strains.

Minimal SD Bases include a yeast nitrogen base, ammonium sulfate, and a carbon source, either dextrose (Minimal SD Base) or galactose and raffinose (Minimal SD Agar Base Gal/Raf). Dropout Supplements can be added to the Minimal SD Base to make a synthetic, defined medium lacking the specified nutrients.

Dropout (DO) Supplements provide various mixtures of amino acids and nucleosides to add to the Minimal SD Agar Base to make a defined minimal medium. DO Supplements may also be added to the minimal E. coli medium M9 to allow nutritional selection. Each package is sufficient for at least 10 liter of medium.
