iWB Isoelectric Western Blotting System iWB Isoelectric Western Blotting System

Features & Benefits

  • Identify glycosylation or phosphorylation isoforms
  • Excellent reproducibility
  • No need for phospho-specific antibody
  • Short runs - fast results

Description

Leveraging the capability of digital ProteomeChip (dPC) technology, the Isoelectric Western Blotting (iWB) System provides a fast and convenient method for validating Mass Spec protein biomarker identifications. Phosphorylations, glycosylations and other posttranslational modifications often missed by SDS-PAGE can produce charge shifts that can be separated by dPC isoelectric fractionation and detected by iWB.

Separated proteins are trapped in the gel plugs of a dPC, allowing direct transfer to PVDF. This eliminates the need to use, handle and transfer acrylamide gels. Proteins are transferred in 15 minutesfrom up to four chips.

Since iWB utilizes parallel isoelectric separation, it is possible to detect differences in protein phosphorylation using a non-phospho/total protein antibody.
