Bioflux: Platelet aggregation assays under controlled shear flow

Why choose the Bioflux system for platelet aggregation assays?

The BioFlux system can run undiluted whole blood assays in a self-contained well-plate format. This obviates the need for pre-treatment and cleanup of tubing often associated with flow experiments. BioFlux plates include up to 24 laminar flow cells and are available in a variety of shear ranges to model appropriate conditions for aggregation/coagulation.

Precise control over shear flow enables a wide variety of cellular applications which call for vascular emulation, mechanical stress, compound/buffer exchange and high content analysis.

The BioFlux system can be used for many platelet biology assays, including:

  • Investigation of kinetic platelet adhesion and aggregation behavior on different substrates over many parallel conditions
  • Exploration of the differences in thrombus formation from donors with different or mutant genotypes
  • Discovery and preclinical compound assessment for both anti-platelet and anti-thrombotic compounds
  • Characterization of thrombosis and coagulation pathways using knockout animals

Bioflux benefits

  • Wide range (0-200 dyne/cm2) of controlled shear flow
  • Up to 96 simultaneous adhesion assays
  • Low sample volumes: more assays per blood draw
  • Plate format fits standard microscopes
  • Pulsatile flow of variable amplitude and frequency
