Already in 1984, Eppo laid the foundation of Westburg in its current form by sourcing, marketing and selling a broad range life science products. Between 1993 and 2003 he grew the company to about 60 people as Managing Director. After focusing on Business Development for a period of 4 years, he became CEO of the company in 2008. In 2010 he became co-owner together with Jurjen Balkema. As of July 2017 he moved back into his role of Director Business Development.
Before Jurjen joined Westburg in 2002 he gained broad commercial life science experience over a period of 14 years at Amersham Pharmacia Biotech (now GE Healthcare). As European Business Manager Purification Systems he was responsible for the successful market introduction of AKTA systems. Westburg first welcomed him as Sales Manager, and from 2008 he took on full commercial responsibility as Commercial Director. Since 2010 Jurjen became Co-owner of Westburg together with Eppo Boneschanscher. As of July 2017 he took over the role of CEO.
