Neurospheres can be maintained undifferentiated in suspension as a 3D aggregate. To induce differentiation, the neurospheres can be transferred to laminin-coated vessels with brain-derived neurotrophic (BDNF) which will induce differentiation into neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes.
Growth and differentiation media
The NPMM™ Neural Progenitor Maintenance BulletKit has been developed for recovery from cryopreservation and maintenance as neurospheres and includes basal mainetenance medium and supplemented Growth SingleQuot Kits.
The NPDM™ Neural Progenitor Differentiation BulletKit includes 25 ng/ml brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) for non-directed differentiation of neurospheres into neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes. Each bottle of the NPDM™ Neural Progenitor Differentiation BulletKit™ Medium contains enough differentiation medium to fully differentiate approximately 1.2 million neural progenitor cells [approximately 20 wells of a 24-well plates] into mature, functionally active neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes.
These media have been optimized for human neural progenitor cells.
