Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a disease that causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs, digestive tract, and other areas of the body. It is one of the most common chronic lung diseases in children and young adults. Cystic fibrosis airway cells include:

  • lung fibroblasts that are isolated from adult lung tissue,
  • bronchial epithelial cells that are isolated from epithelial lining of airways above bifurcation of the lungs,
  • bronchial smooth muscle cells that are isolated from the major bronchia.

Cystic fibrosis Lung Fibroblasts

Lonza's Cystic Fibrosis lung fibroblasts stain negative for von Willebrand factor VIII, cytokeratins 18 and 19, and alpha smooth muscle actin. All cells test negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi. HIV-1, hepatitis B and hepatitis C are not detected for all donors and/or cell lots. A Certificate of Analysis is provided for each cell lot purchased.

Cystic Fibrosis Bronchial Epithelial cells

Lonza's Cystic Fibrosis Bronchial Epithelial cells test negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi. HIV-1, hepatitis B and hepatitis C are not detected for all donors and/or cell lots. A Certificate of Analysis is provided for each cell lot purchased.
