Protect your DNA samples from UV damage
Blue light transilluminators are an excellent alternative to UV transilluminators as there is no risk of sample damage during illumination. This is important when DNA fragments are to be processed after gel documentation, such as for cloning.
Blue light excitation can be used for fluorescent dyes for nucleic aid or protein stains in the yellow/green range, such as SYBR® Green, GelGreenTM, SYBR® Safe, SYBR® Gold or SYPRO® Ruby.
Uniform illumination by long-life LEDs
Arrays of high-performance blue light LEDs are located at two sides beside or below the illumination area. They offer a great illumination uniformity and high signal intensity. In addition, the lifespan of the LEDs is about 50.000 hours, which means you never have to change a bulb.
Safe for your eyes
Users also benefit from Blue Light illumination as there is no risk of UV exposure to eyes or skin. The BLstar comes with an installed lid with amber filter. The lid can be freely adjusted in different angles and allows an easy access to the gel during cutting out of the gel. There is no need to wear amber glasses as the amber lid serves as filter to see the fluorescent samples.
