PrimeScript Reverse Transcriptase is a novel reverse transcriptase, developed by TaKaRa Bio based on M-MLV reverse transcriptase. Since PrimeScript has an extremely high extension ability, it can synthesize long first-strand cDNA efficiently.

Even if reverse transcription is more difficult due to RNA secondary structure (GC-rich RNA), the strong strand displacement activity of PrimeScript allows reverse transcription at the normal temperature of 42°C. This prevents damage to the RNA that may occur at 50°C.

As an added benefit, PrimeScript is more accurate, producing cDNA with 1,5- to 3-fold less errors compared to other MMLV-based reverse transcriptases

PrimeScript RT is suitable for first strand cDNA synthesis for RT-PCR or QRT-PCR, and for construction of cDNA library including a high proportion of full-length cDNA.
